This work is the result of collaboration between Harry Gruyaert (Magnum Agency member) and Hugo Claus (Belgian writer).
After several trips to the United States, Morocco and after having lived in London, Harry Gruyaert decided to return to Belgium to start this work.
He took photos of his native country with the necessary hindsight to go beyond sentimentalism and documentary work.
It highlights the beauty, the ugliness of his country and its contradictions. Over the pages we discover a Belgium of the 70s, hesitating between traditions and modernity.
This work is accompanied by poems by Hugo Claus, as an interpretation of an atmosphere from a bygone era.Buy at Amazon
